What is an empty leg flight?
An empty leg is a repositioning flight — an aircraft that has to fly somewhere anyway, with no passengers, after dropping off a previous charter. Operators sell those seats below normal charter rates. The catch is that the date, time, route and aircraft are fixed by their repositioning need, and the offer expires on departure.
Are empty legs cheaper than chartering a private jet?
Usually, but not always. Comparing the same corridors priced both ways on this site, empty legs run a median of roughly a quarter below the lowest charter quote — and occasionally price above it. That is why both numbers are shown side by side rather than assuming one is better.
How current are the prices on this site?
